One of the most memorable thesis protesting the sale of indulgences is “They preach only human doctrines who say that as soon as the money clinks into the money chest, the soul flies out of purgatory.”

Martin Luther had a breakthrough of understanding when he realized based on Romans 1:17 that the faith required to receive the righteousness of God was a gift from God.

“For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.” Romans 1:17

We can rejoice that God used Martin Luther and many others to give the saving Word of God to the people which brought about the Protestant Reformation. We would not be living here in America where we can practice the true Christian religion free from persecution by the false church of Rome without the Protestant Reformation.

Let us lay aside the old pagan holidays and the pagan religion of Roman Catholicism which enslaved our people in spiritual darkness and instead embrace the freedom found only in Christ through grace alone through faith alone.

Sola Scriptura, Sola Gratia, Sola Fide, Solus Christus, Soli Deo Gloria

Sola Scriptura – Scripture alone
Sola Gratia – Grace alone
Sola Fide – Faith alone
